Acar was founded in 1918 by great-grandfather Désiré Fonteyne. We first focused on radiant tubes and coal stoves for heating. Shortly after WWII, grandson Urbain Acar expanded the company with a focus on residential and utility heating applications. In the latter category of projects, the company was active in schools, monasteries, ... as far away as Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp. Later the activities were further extended to hot air and sanitary installations.

In 1992, Vincent Acar stepped into the company and took over management a few years later. With the move from the center of Sint-Niklaas to a new building in Industriepark West, the company was further professionalized and could also launch itself on the project market. In addition to heating and plumbing, ventilation, and later cooling, were added. The focus was and still is on feasible projects, whether or not in cooperation with trusted subcontractors. We have always maintained the mix of project market, industry and residential construction.

Meanwhile, we exist for more than a hundred years. In order to continue to play a prominent role in the future, we must above all support our company's main asset: the expertise of our employees. 

In this, the acquisition by Gezel ensures continuity under the wings of ATS Group. This complementarity allows us to be more flexible in the market, and to exchange mutual experience and (project) knowledge.
