In 1966, Jozef Goedgezelschap and his wife Ghislaine Gezel started as a sole proprietorship. The family name is the basis of the company name, as with his father Alfons' business. The young Buggenhout company immediately focused on the emerging central heating market.
After thirty years - in 1996 - Jozef leaves the company to his son Hedwig Goedgezelschap and son-in-law Rudy Van Verre. A little later, daughter Hilde also joined the company, taking over the financial management from her mother. The new managers immediately entered new markets: the activities were expanded to include ventilation and air conditioning. The HVAC company remains located in Buggenhout.
The existing activities continue to grow and eventually the headquarters in the Weiveld in Buggenhout proves too small. A new location was sought and found in Beukenstraat. By 2012, turnover increases tenfold and the company specializes more and more in industrial projects in addition to residential construction.
In 2017, Daan Goedgezelschap, Hedwig's son, joins the company at the head of Gezel. In addition, the family business also becomes a member of ATS Group (read below). Together with father Hedwig, Daan today takes care of the daily management.
In 2026, the focus will be entirely on the business market. Private services will be phased out in order to provide business customers with the attention and care they deserve.
Gezel and Acar are members of ATS Group. After the acquisition, Gezel retained its identity as a family-owned SME, but in the process gained strong shoulders to lean on.
From now on, we can broaden our services and offer electro as well. With ATS at our side, we are even stronger to tackle our customers' challenges across the board.
A year after the new start, Gezel acquires Chauffage Acar of Sint-Niklaas in 2018. The company will continue to exist on its own and form a single entity with Gezel from 2025. Since then, the branch in Sint-Niklaas has also focused on the extensive HVAC market. Together more than 160 years of experience on the counter, that can count!
From 2026 onwards, the company will continue under the name Gezel Sint-Niklaas division) under one strong umbrella.
